Tourist Attractions close to Villa Lairoux

Villa Lairoux is set on the edge of the peaceful village of Lairoux, only 8km from Luçon, which has many shops, restaurants and bars. The village now has a bar of its own, which is open at lunch times and evenings, and by the summer of 2010, the landlady will also be providing a lunchtime menu.

Villa Lairoux is close to many quiet country lanes which lead to the Marais Communal where you will be able to take a stroll or cycle and bird watch en route with many birds of prey and migratory birds nesting in the area - we'll even provide the bikes for your days out! Kyaking and fishing are available nearby on the river Lay or the local village lakes.

The villa is only 20 minutes away from the beaches of the southern Vendée. Here you will find seaside resorts such as La Faute sur Mer or La Tranche sur Mer, with long beaches and many entertainment facilities nearby - such as mini golf, fair grounds, musical evenings and beach sports. There is a wide variety of beaches - some have excellent surfing and body boarding, whilst others are great for rock pooling or sun bathing. All are family friendly and most have life guards on duty over the summer months.

The Aquarium, La Rochelle

A holiday is not complete without a visit to the historic city of La Rochelle, with its Old Port and arcaded shopping streets. The Aquarium is also a must-see! Only 40 minutes by car.

Venise Verte

The Marais Poitevin is an area of outstanding natural beauty, with miles of canals and pretty waterside villages to explore. Boats can be hired for the morning to get a unique view of the landscape. Only 60 minutes by car.

The area has a local wine route, and many markets in the summer months selling local produce and regional specialities. There are also a large number of vide greniers (car boot sales) on every weekend during summer.
If golf is your sport, there are five good courses in the Vendee - where you can pay & play and hire clubs for the day.
